CBSE New Curriculum For Class 10 To Class 12

CBSE New Syllabus Change | New Curriculum For Class 10 To Class 12 – [2021-22]

Posted on September 10, 2021September 13, 2021 by GharPeShiksha

In this article, we included 2021-22 CBSE New Syllabus Change and New Curriculum For Class 10 To Class 12. We have discussed internal assessment and preparation tips for students.

The Central Board of secondary education, better known as CBSE, has recently introduced a New Curriculum For Class 10 To Class 12. A new set of guidelines to be followed by the students of upcoming academic years. With the advent of the new National Education Policy(NEP) 2020, schools and colleges in our country have been directed to modify their existing curriculum and evaluation methods.

Syllabus For New Curriculum: 2021-22

  • The new curriculum will have an enhanced syllabus which would include topics having greater practical significance.
  • Because of the damage caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, this academic session began late. Understanding the plight of students, CBSE introduced some changes in the syllabus.
  • Therefore the Board has released the revised syllabus of class 9th, 10th, 11th & 12th on the official web portal of CBSE.

CBSE Board Exam Plan

  • To make the evaluation process more comprehensive, the Board will conduct the term-end examination twice a year with almost 50% syllabus in each Term. This systematic approach will reduce the burden on students.
  • The Board will conduct the Term I Examination between November and December 2021, with a 4-8 weeks window at the end of the First Term.
  • The Question Paper will consist of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ), including Case-based MCQs and MCQs on the assertion-reasoning type.
  • The test duration will be 90 minutes, and it will cover only the rationalized syllabus of Term I only.
  • Marks of the Term I Examination will contribute to the final overall score of students.
  • The Board will conduct the Term II Examination between March and April 2022 at the second Term’s end.
  • The paper would last two hours and will include questions in a variety of formats, including case-based/situation-based, open-ended short and long answers.
  • If the situation does not allow for a traditional descriptive test, a 90-minute MCQ-based exam will be held at the end of Term II.

Internal Assessment Program

  • The Board is also aiming to put more emphasis on internal assessments.
  • According to an official, “For the academic year 2021-22, the board is also planning to make the internal assessment, practical, project work more credible and valid for ensuring the fair distribution of marks.” [NDTV.com]

To make students acquainted with the importance of internal assessments, we reproduce this statement from the circular published by CBSE itself: “In case the pandemic forces complete closure of schools and Board conducted Term I and II exams are taken by the candidates from home in the session 2021-22. Results would be computed based on the Internal Assessment/Practical/Project Work and Theory marks of Term-I and II exams taken by the candidate from home in Class X / XII subject to the moderation or other measures to ensure validity and reliability of the assessment.

Overall View Of CBSE New Curriculum

CBSE writes in its curriculum notification that, “[To] provide ample scope for holistic i.e. physical, intellectual and social development of students” and ” [To] promote critical and creative thinking aligned to the 21st-century skills in classrooms” as two of the ten salient features of the new curriculum. Thus, it is clear from the point that now, CBSE wants the students to go through a rigorous learning practice to inculcate certain essential skills.

With the announcement of a new and revised curriculum, it has become imperative for the students to work hard to score well in their exams. Unlike the previous curriculums, this new teaching model aims to impart skill-based knowledge in the minds of the students of senior secondary classes.

Term-wise examinations in the form of multiple-choice objective questions are going to check students’ in-depth knowledge on various topics of the same subject. It is a healthy step towards the betterment of education in our country.
